TUV Rheinland of North America, Inc., Telecom Division, offers services for Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) equipment and component manufacturers. The DSL service incorporates a proprietary qualification and reporting program with precision performance test data and compliance reports.
The DSL lab is designed to ensure that test data is accurate and repeatable within the limits of the technology. This is critical from not only a technical perspective (ensuring that design decisions are made using reliable data), but also is invaluable to manufacturers and distributors who use third-party certification to enhance their image of safety and quality.
TUV Rheinland offers conformance testing to ATU-R and ATU-C specifications such as G.992.1, G.992.2 and ANSI T1.413.
TUV Rheinland also provides a wide array of performance test useful to the development and marketing of your products (e.g. TR-048 of the DSL Forum).
Meeting Current Demands
Test requirements for DSL can be formidable. You must establish a link; add a line simulator; apply complex disturbances, vary each of the disturbers, vary the line characteristics, take measurements (non-intrusively and all simultaneously) within defined and traceable accuracy limits; and make it all repeatable.
Marketplace demands can be just as challenging. You need to influence and convince consumers, professional buyers and official authorities that your product is subject to independent verification from a highly respected third party.
