| Since the Toy Safety
Directive (88/378/EEC) was put into force in Europe in 1988, TÜV
Rheinland has tested thousands of toys to ensure that they are
safe and comply with the European regulations.
Basically all kinds of toys need to be tested - plush toys, motor-operated
toys, electronic toys, remote-control toys, etc. Our own fully
equipped toy and electrical testing laboratories were accredited
by DAR, DAP , HOKLAS , CCIBLAC and CNACL . Depending on specific
product characteristics, tests are performed according to:
Toys Safety Directive 88/378/EEC- EN 71
· Physical and mechanical features,
· Flammability,
· Heavy metals migration,
· Experimental sets for chemistry and related activities,
· Chemical toys ( sets ) other than experimental sets,
· Finger paints,
· Swings, Slides and similar activity toys for indoor, outdoor
family domestic use,
· Organic chemicals used in toys
- EN 50088 (safety testing for electrical toys)
- Related German DIN standards , e.g Recommendation LMBG XL VII
- Investigation of the harmful substances used in toys according
to Annex II of
88/378/EEC
‘ TÜV Rheinland GS mark ‘ and ‘ Quality Toys mark’ criteria accept
the test of 88/378/EEC,
EMC Directive 89/336 with the relevant standards for immunity
and emission, can lead to TÜV Rheinland EMC mark
R & TTE directive 1999/5/EC ( Directive for Radio equipment
and telecommunication terminal equipment ) to control the radio
and wireless-control toys . Certificate of EEC notified body may
be granted
