| SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment
and Materials International) is a globally-operating alliance
in the semiconductor industry. |
| |
| |
| The worldwide leading standard
specifications and regulations for semiconductors, flat-screen
monitor materials and machines are condensed in SEMI's international
directives. In this connection, SEMI S2 represents a fundamental
safety concept for machines and equipment within the semiconductor
industry. |
| |
| The SEMI S2 directive summarizes
the fundamental health and safety requirements. |
| |
| In detail, SEMI S2 relates
to the areas of electrical and mechanical engineering, fire
protection, chemistry, radiation, noise, earthquake resistance
and much more. |
| |
| In association with other
SEMI directives, such as, for example, SEMI S8 (Ergonomic
requirements) and SEMI S10 (Risk evaluation), SEMI S2 in the
meantime represents the basic requirement of the leading semiconductor
manufacturers.
|
| |
| |
| SEMI S2 is not directly compatible
with the European directives such as the Machine Directive
or the Low Voltage Directive. However, since far-reaching
similarities with the European standards, for example EN 61010,
do exist, a combination of both requirements is possible. |
| |
| Thanks to the one-stop-testing
concept of TÜV Rheinland Product Safety, it is possible
to secure a large number of national and international certificates
of conformity in a single process.
|
| |
| |
| As TÜV Rheinland has
access to an optimally functioning communication network within
its globally-networked organization, it can, for example,
conduct an initial test in Europe, possible changes can be
made locally, for example in America. |
