| At present, there is no European
Directive for Sporting Equipment. As such, Sporting goods themselves
cannot carry a CE-mark. CE-marks found on such equipment apply to
their electrical/electronic components e.g. battery powered displays
etc. Some equipment is wrongly recognized as sporting equipment. Depending on where the product will actually be used it may be considered Personnel Protective Equipment e.g. a protector for inline skating. Even though no CE-mark can currently be issued for sporting goods, safety testing for these products is still highly recommended. For most sporting goods testing is conducted against standards recognized across Europe. |
