Testing

TUV Rheinland of North America is a member of the TÜV Rheinland Berlin Brandenburg Group, a global leader in independent testing and assessment services.

TUV Rheinland of North America, Inc. provides EMC evaluation, testing and certification services to help manufacturers comply with domestic emissions requirements (FCC) and the EMC requirements of the European EMC Directive 89/336/EEC.

The EMC Directive, 89/336/EEC, sets the requirements for the control of emissions and immunity that products must meet in order to receive the CE Mark. The testing covers all electrical and electronic products, in particular household appliances, data-processing equipment, information technology equipment, telecommnications equipment and machinery.

Some products, such as automotive and medical devices are required to meet the EMC requirements of product-specific directives. In these cases, the EMC requirements specified in each directive take precedence over those stated in the EMC Directive.

These standards may be applied immediately to demonstrate presumption of conformity with the EMC Directive; they must be applied on or before the presumption of conformity cessation dates.

The testing can be performed to almost all Harmonized Product Family Standards and EU Directives. Standard Test reports are typically delivered within 24 hours of completion of testing for standard test.
